#N20,866B - Unknown photographer, ca. 1950.

Interior of Simson African Hall, circa 1950. Most of the dioramas remain essentially the same, but now have audio accompaniments and other forms of enhanced interpretation. The large waterhole diorama at the far end of the hall was renovated in 1983 (courtesy of the Brooks Walker family) by removing the covering glass panels and incorporating a day-to-night cycle of light and sound that includes actual recordings of animals at a waterhole in Africa.
