Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Persian Gulf, Seychelles, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Solomon Islands and northern Vanuatu, north to Taiwan, south to New South Wales (Australia) and New Caledonia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
