platespogon, Pimelodus Valenciennes [A.] in Jacquemont 1840:Pl. 18 (fig. 3) [Voyage dans l'Inde pendant les années 1828 à 1832; ref. 17872] India. Holotype: MNHN 0000-2904 (85 mm TL specimen). Other Valenciennes material: MNHN 0000-2904 (1, smaller specimen). Type information: Daget 1984:514 [ref. 23265], Grant 2026:25 [ref. 42983]. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:383 [ref. 29155]. According to Daget, this is in error for Pimelodus platypogon Valenciennes 1840, but Daget treats as a separate description with syntypes from India and refers the species to Glyptosternum. Ferraris 2007:383 [ref. 29155] also treats as an available name. See also Grant 2026:25 [ref. 42983]. •Synonym of Bagarius bagarius (Hamilton 1822) -- (Ferraris 2007:383 [ref. 29155], Kottelat 2013:221 [ref. 32989] with question, Ng & Kottelat 2021:140 [ref. 38128]). •Valid as Glyptothorax platespogon (Valenciennes 1840) -- (Grant 2026:25 [ref. 42983]). Current status: Valid as Glyptothorax platespogon (Valenciennes 1840). Sisoridae: Sisorinae. Distribution: South Asia: Indus River basin, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal. Habitat: freshwater.
