Holotype: SAIAB 70904. Paratypes: (35) AMS, KAUM-I, ROM, SAIAB, USNM. •Valid as Lepadichthys polyastrous Fujiwara & Motomura 2021. •Valid as Rhinolepadichthys polyastrous (Fujiwara & Motomura 2021) -- (Fujiwara et al. 2024:290 [ref. 40972]). Current status: Valid as Rhinolepadichthys polyastrous (Fujiwara & Motomura 2021). Gobiesocidae: Diademichthyinae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: Mozambique and South Africa. Habitat: marine.
