Current status: Valid as Labroides inopinatus Tea, Baraf, Menkara, Ludt, Allen, Hobbs & Cowman 2026. Labridae: Julidinae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Izu Oceanic Park, Sagami Bay, Japan, Holmes and Flora Reef, Coral Sea, Queensland, Australia, and Boulari Pass, New Caledonia; possibly the deep mesophotic reefs, Wakatobi, southeastern Sulawesi, Indonesia. Habitat: marine.
