Description | Set of three nested dolls of graduated sizes that fit inside each other and together all set inside a small bowl-like container; Smallest figurine is that of a child wrapped in an orange robe; Middle-sized doll represents a woman dressed in an orange undergarment and a blue outer robe with floral designs; Woman’s long black hair trails down her back; Largest figure represents a man dressed in a blue and white undergarment and a black outer robe and he carries a scroll in his right hand; The child figurine is a solid piece of wood, white the man and woman are hollow and have been turned on a lathe; The bowl-like container in which all three dolls sit was also turned on a lathe and has a flat painted green base and low vertical sides that are painted with alternating blue and orange stripes on a white background; Interior of bowl is unpainted; Probable artist’s signature is painted in gold paint on man’s back. | |
