Description	Small agawen, or snail gathering, basket from northern Philippines; Basket has a flat base and high shoulder that slopes to a wide mouth; Basket is set on a square wooden base; Basket is attached to base at the four corners by â€œropesâ€ of plaited weaving that extends to rim of the basket mouth on the exterior of the basket, and is intertwined with decorative pattern of interconnected woven circles on the shoulder; There is a single band of decorative waved twining in a lighter material similar to the decorative and plaited elements; Apart from these design elements, the basket is constructed from a dark plant material in plain twining technique, with the wide warp fibers visible under the thin weft fibers; These baskets usually have a thin carrying strap attached to the plaited â€œropesâ€ however the strap on this basket is not present.
