Description Shallow, round hat shaped like an open umbrella with an inner framework of 6 overlapping bamboo ribs that are arranged like the spokes of a wheel and then covered with grass leaves woven in a concentric pattern; Exterior is covered with additional grass leaves that are laid flat, side by side, with their ends terminating at the hat's crown, and all hand sewn with a continuous thread beginning near the rim of the hat and continuing in spiral pattern toward center of hat; Grass-wrapped ring on interior provides for seating the hat atop the wearer's head and two plied native cordage loops provide for fastening the hat to one's head; Orange commercial fabric cord is tied to one of the loops.
