Description Lamp base made in the form of an inverted jar; Flanged base supports flaring sides that rise to a rounded shoulder and stepped, lid-like top; Center hole in top is for placement of center lamp pole and hole on side near base is for electrical cord; Exterior is scraped very smooth and polished; Parrot motif is painted twice on sides in red and black, alternating with black geometric design; Black feather motif is painted twice on top, encircling center hole; Artist’s hallmark of a frog is painted in black on base. Paqua Naha was the mother of Joy Navasie (second Frog Woman), the grandmother of Natelle Navasie Curtis, the great-grandmother of Harrison Jim, Jr., the mother-in-law of Helen Naha (Feather Woman), and the grandmother of Sylvia Naha, all of whose work are represented in the CAS pottery collection.

Description Large, flat rectangular storage bag woven in 2-strand plain twining technique; Warp material is hop twine; Weft material around base and mouth of bag is hemp, while hop twine is used as the weft over the remainder body; Sides taper inward slightly toward the mouth; Canvas strip attached at bottom to which metal rings have been attached with thread; Wide hide band is laced through rings; Designs are woven of wool yarn in a false embroidery technique, against a background of undyed corn husk, and consist of 6 rows of green hourglass figures on red rectangles on the front face of the bag, and 4 rows of diamonds and half diamonds in green, blue, red, orange, and turquoise on the reverse face.
