Description Tall round vase with flat base and slightly curved walls that rise steeply almost to rim, then curve inward to wide mouth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Exterior is also covered with dark rust brown slip and highly burnished; Painted design bands encircle upper and lower exterior sides; Lower band is divided into 4 panels, each containing asymmetrical gray terraced triangle within larger tan triangle and row of gray triangles pendant from upper framing line, all outlined in a flesh tone; Upper design band includes a continuous flesh-toned rectilinear fret, framed above and below by scalloped band in gray, tan, and flesh tones; "Catherine" is written in pencil on base.

Christina Naranjo was a sister to Margaret Tafoya, mother of Mary Cain, Teresita Naranjo, and Mida Tafoya, and grandmother of Stella Naranjo Chavarria and Victor Eckelberry, all of whose works are represented in the CAS pottery collection.
