Description Carved cylindrical wooden staff that tapers very gradually toward one end before terminating in a short, socketed extension; Opposite end also tapers slightly and becomes 4-sided; At base of 4-sided section are carved various geometric designs, including straight and zigzag bands, arrows, crosses, crescents, and a zigzag line incorporation depictions of tipis or mountains; Carved designs are stained red and blue; Staff probably used during peyote religious ceremonies.

Description Tableta made from 2 flat wooden sections placed side by side, hinged together with string, and cut out to conform to wearer's head; Corn husk head rest ring is attached at top of cutout; Leather strap attached to sides; Face of Palhik' Mana is painted on front in red, orange, yellow, black, and white on blue background; Cloud symbols in same colors are painted on reverse. Identified in Oct. 1977 by Terrance Talaswaima (Hopi artist and then curator at Hopi Cultural Center) as Pal-Hik Mana, as it would appear during the Butterfly Dance, a summer social dancer sponsored by young men.

Description Hand-held rattle fashioned from two round pieces of hide sewn together around edges with indeterminate material to form flattened spherical shape; Several pebbles or seeds are contained within, and short carved wooden handle is inserted through one edge of rattle through to opposite edge and held in place with a small wooden cross-pin inserted through its distal end; Exterior of rattle (except for handle) is painted black and then decorated on each face with a diamond shape outlined in white and divided into quadrants (2 quadrants in each diamond are painted solid white).
