Description Shallow round plate or bowl with rounded base and flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and covered with white slip; Interior is painted with black and white fine-line optical illusion pattern of concentric rectangles; Rim is incised with single row of triangles that are painted orange; "Acoma, NM." is printed on base in lettering that matches that of other pieces by Lucy Martin Lewis, but plate is unsigned otherwise. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters. She is the mother of Anne Lewis Hansen and the mother-in-law of Rita Lewis, both of whose works are also represented in the CAS pottery

Lewis, Acoma, NM" is printed in black lettering on underside. Noted Acoma potter Lucy Martin Lewis is the mother of grandmother of many well-known potters.
