[In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay attributed this basket to the Lake County area.]

[In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay identified this design as the â€œflintâ€ design. She also attributed this basket to the Mission Lakeport area, and thought it was probably woven by the same person who wove CAS 0370-0761.]

Description	Round basket with flat base and rounded sides that curve in at rim; Coiled on 3-rod foundation; Exterior is completely covered in featherwork in a banded pattern of 8 open diamond shapes in yellow meadowlark feathers on background of green mallard feathers. [In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay, commented that weavers in the Ukiah area cut or trimmed feathers on baskets, such as this example, whereas weavers in Long Valley did not, unless the basket was passed outside their cultural group. Trimming the feathers diminishes or â€œbreaks downâ€ the power of the spirit, and Mable said she had never seen any basket in a museum collection that had not been â€œbroken down.â€]

Description	Deep round basket with flat base and nearly vertical walls, woven in plain twining technique, with a single row of 3-strand twining at the juncture of the base and sides; Warp and primary weft material is cattail stems; Warp fibers are bent over at rim and bound under the weft and also finished with a false braid stitch; Designs are woven in a half-twist overlay technique, using natural straw-colored bear grass as the background and dyed (brown, black, and deep yellow) bear grass for the actual designs; Designs around side of basket include 3 parallel geometric bands in brown and yellow or black and yellow, and a 4th band of black or brown dogs just below the rim.

Description	Deep rectangular berry gathering basket with flat base, rounded corners, and slightly flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is cedar splints and primary weft material is cedar roots; Designs are woven in imbrication technique and consist of 14 composite vertical stripes extending up the sides of the basket, each comprising a central stripe woven of natural red cherry bark or mud-dyed black cherry bark, flanked on either side by stripes that alternate undyed bear grass with either natural red or mud-dyed black cherry bark; Additional, a band of natural red cherry bark is woven in ribbon beading technique along two coils along the lower sides and also along the final rim coil; Series of small holes in uppermost 3.5 cm of basket indicates location of original loop handles.

Description	Large rectangular flat-bottomed basket with slightly flaring sides, and a low interior lip, originally fitted with flat-topped rectangular lid (now missing) and pair of carrying handles (also missing) along end shoulders; Base of basket is woven in plaited technique over wide cedar slats, using cedar roots as the weft; Single bundle around perimeter of base is coil-wrapped and was originally secured to a cedar slat set on edge that formed a low footed pedestal; Sides of basket are woven in coiled technique over cedar slats; Primary weft material is cedar roots; Designs are woven of undyed reed stems and natural (red) and mud-dyed (black) cherry bark, using the imbrication technique on the basket's sides and ribbon beading along base and shoulder of the basket; Designs include two parallel composite zigzag bands that encircle the sides and ends of the basket, each band having a central zigzag of undyed reed stems and alternate "V" segments of each band alternating between natural red and mud-dyed black cherry bark; Single band of mud-dyed black cherry bark is woven in ribbon beading technique along lower sides of basket and along edges of shoulder, and single band of natural red cherry bark is similarly woven along shoulder itself.

Description	Very large and deep round basket with flat base and slightly flaring sides, woven entirely in plain twining technique except for single row of 3-strand twining at junction of base and sides; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Series of 9 concentric bands on base are woven in plain twining using dyed green, purple, red, and dark brown spruce roots, alternating with bands of undyed spruce root between them; Row of 3-strand twining is also of dyed red spruce roots; Pair of 3-row bands along lower sides are woven in false embroidery, using dyed red and purple bear grass leaves; 2 wide and 1 narrow band encircle basket around midsection, with the background of the wider bands woven in plain twining and comprising alternating red and purple bands, all between upper and lower green framing lines; On exterior of these are series of alternating red and straw-colored angular "S" shapes, all in false embroidery; Narrower band between the 2 wider false embroidered bands is also woven in false embroidery and shows series of small rectangles that form a terraced zigzag, flanked by red terraced triangles, with the overall band framed between plain twined bands in purple and orange; Narrow false embroidered band in dyed purple and red and undyed bear grass encircles rim; Double pair of cordage ties on upper sides secured tumpline (section of wool yarn rope is attached).

Description	Large deep cylindrical basket with slightly concave base and slightly constricted sides; Basket is woven primarily in plain diagonal twining with rows of 3 strand twining on base and around rim for added strength and occasionally around sides for added strength and decorative effect; Warps rods are bent over at rim and incorporated into coil-wrapped bundle; Warp rods are whole unpeeled willow shoots and primary weft fibers are split unpeeled willow shoots; Designs are woven of dyed (black or red) willow shoots and consists of concentric bands of simple geometric patterns encircling the sides. [In 1980, southwestern basket expert Clara Lee Tanner (Arizona State Museum) commented that this basket appeared to be more Apache than Walapai.]
