Description |
Round nearly flat plaque with domed center, woven entirely in wicker technique over multiple warps; Warp material is probably sumac stems and weft material is natural, vegetal, and aniline dyed rabbitbrush stems; At the rim, one warp stem from each group of warps is bent over and incorporated into a bundle that is coil-wrapped in undyed yucca leaves; Geometric design consists of a pale orange central area with two parallel red bars on front face only, encircled by a narrow band of alternating orange and yellow blocks edged in black; Wider band with orange, yellow, and blue-gray blocks edged in black, all on natural colored background, covers most of the remaining space; Narrow band of alternating yellow and orange blocks, edged in black, encircles rim of plaque. |

Round nearly flat plaque with domed center, woven entirely in wicker technique over multiple warps; Warp material is probably sumac stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed rabbitbrush stems; At the rim, one warp stem from each group of warps is bent over and incorporated into a bundle that is coil-wrapped in dyed black yucca leaves; Design consists of a single complete figure of a butterfly with outstretched wings, whose body is a blue-gray color and whose wings are green, orange, blue-gray, black, and natural color, all on natural colored background; Narrow band of alternating green and orange blocks, edged in black, encircles rim of plaque. |

Round very shallow plaque with slightly rounded base and widely flaring sides, woven entirely in coiled technique over bundle coils; Warp material is galleta grass stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed yucca leaves; Small coil-wrapped loop for hanging plaque on wall is woven into final rim coil on reverse; Design consists of large image of yellow eagle in center of basket with its wings and feet spread; Eagle is outlined in black and the edges of its wings, tail, and head are woven in an overlay stitch; Band of contiguous terraced triangles (4 each in rust red, golden yellow, and natural sun bleached color, all edged in black) encircles eagle; The overall background color is natural sun bleached color; The weaving on this basket is extremely precise and the design is perfectly balanced. |

Description |
Basketry-covered brown glass bottle (possibly beer bottle) with flat base, cylindrical body, tall straight neck, and handle attached at shoulder and rim; basket is woven primarily in plain twining technique, with several rows of 3-strand twining on base and in final row of twining at rim; Warp material is hazel shoots and primary weft material is conifer roots; Designs are woven in full-twist overlay technique, using natural colored bear grass leaves as the background and black maidenhair fern stems for the actual designs, which include circular ticked band on base, 3 bands of large 8-point stars or half-stars on the sides, a band of small parallelograms around the shoulder, and a narrow ticked band around the neck; Handle is decorated with spiral bands in alternating light and dark colors; Upper neck of bottle is exposed, indicating a woven basketry cap originally accompanied this piece. |
