Description Container made from small tall-necked gourd whose stem end has been removed; Entire exterior of gourd is covered with beads strung on multi-ply string and wrapped around gourd, passing through 4 leather strips that are positioned vertically on sides of gourd and serve as spacer bars; Design field is divided into 6 bands, three of which are divided into 4 panels each in light or dark blue and white with red accents, and three consisting of rows of solid color (white, light blue, dark blue, and red); 2 of the leather spacer bars extend beyond the rim to form a short handle and are also beaded in white, red, and light blue; Stopper is small gourd disc with loops of blue and white beads sewn to the top.

Description Men’s pants with attached moccasins; Pants are constricted from a single piece tanned hide with inseams up each leg to the crotch and then up the center front to the waist; and sewn with sinew; Separate hide strip is sewn up the front of each leg, extending almost to the crotch level and each is decorated with small glass seed beads in colors of white, red, yellow, light and dark blue, sewn in lazy stitch with sinew; Bead strip divides into two narrower strips just above the ankle, forming an empty triangular space which is outlined in red paint; Short red painted line also extends 7.5 cm and 9 cm, respectively, from upper end of beaded strip on each leg; Another separate hide strip is wrapped around each pants leg at the knee and is sewn to the pants leg only at the point where it would cross the beaded strip on the pants leg, much like a garter; Ends of each garter are trimmed to form short fringes and the entire length of each garter is decorated with small seed beads in colors of white, light blue and dark blue sewn with sinew; Hide is folded under at waist to form drawstring waist with hide lacing passing through it; Front of pants are also cut to form a fly; Drawstring waist and front fly are not traditional and suggest a fairly late date of manufacture, well after Dena’ina people had begun to adopt Western style clothing; Moccasins are constricted from several pieces and sewn to the pants legs; Hide strip around top of moccasins is decorated with additional small glass seed beads in colors of white, red, light and dark blue, all sewn with sinew in lazy stitch.

Description Man’s tunic constructed from two pieces of tanned hide that are seamed together along both sides and across the shoulders and sewn with sinew; Two large darts measuring approx. 16 cm long are sewn on the upper front,extending out from the neck opening; Long sleeves are seamed on the underarm and attached to the main tunic at the shoulder with sinew; Bottom of edge of tunic is cut to form a V-shaped extenswion on both the front and back and the edges of the hide are further cut to form short fringes in groups of 3 or 4, with some of the fringes threaded through 2 yellow and 1 blue barrel-shaped bead; Actual hemline is painted with red line and decorated with three rows of small glass seed beads in white and light blue, sewn with cotton thread in lazy stitch; Another red line is painted up center of tunic on both front and back, starting from lowest point of hemline and extending 49 cm on front and 46 cm on back; Each of these lines is then decorated with 3 rows of small seed beads in white, red, and dark blue sewn with cotton string in lazy stitch;
