Description | Staff carved from single piece of wood; Overall shape is of an elongated but flattened cylinder; Lateral edges are parallel for 2/3 of total length (starting from bottom), then constrict slightly before expanding and again constricting and finally end in low relief carving of human figure with arms crossed in front; Nearly entire length of staff is carved in front with geometric and animal motifs, possibly representing figure's clothing; Carving also includes name or word, "Ude"; Reverse side of staff is carved only with the figure's face and folded arms; Small hole is drilled through staff near distal end. | |
