| Description | Very large and deep round utility basket with round, flat base and vertical sides, woven primarily in alternating rows of plaint twining and simple plaiting, except for single row of 3-strand twining along juncture of base and sides and another at approx. 3.5 cm below rim; Final 3.5 cm of upper sides of basket are woven primarily in plain twining, with occasional diagonally twined stitches, producing a decorative pattern of parallel zigzag lines; A false braid encircles the rim; Warp material is cedar bark and weft material is cedar roots; Basket is completely undecorated except as already noted; Pair of double-strand leather loops are threaded through upper sides of basket near rim. | |
