Description | Miniature shallow scoop-shaped sifter or parching basket, woven in open diagonal twining technique; Warp rods are bent over at distal end and coil wrapped; Additional reinforcing rod along rim on all four sides of basket is also coil wrapped; Warp material is probably whole peeled willow shoots; Primary weft material is sedge roots; Designs are woven of split and unpeeled redbud shoots and consists of horizontal band just above midsection of basket, showing row of positive diamonds on interior and negative diamonds on exterior; Coil wrapping around rim is also done in split and unpeeled redbud shoots. | |
