Description | Miniature seed beater basket with shallow, oval body and extended handle, woven entirely in plain twining technique, including several rows in which the wefts are twined over two or three warps; Warp rods are bent over at proximal and distal ends and coil wrapped; Additional reinforcing rod along rim on three sides of basket crosses over on the back of the basket at base of handle and is also coil wrapped; Warp rods are probably whole peeled willow shoots; Primary weft material is split sedge roots and secondary weft material for designs is split, unpeeled redbud shoots, used only for the coil wrapping around rim to contrast with lighter color of warp and primary weft materials. | |
