Description | Small round basket with rounded base and vertical sides, woven entirely in simple twining, except for a several rows of three-strand twining at the start and one additional row at the midpoint of the base; Warp rods are probably hazel and primary weft material is conifer roots; Designs are woven in half-twist overlay technique, utilizing woodwardia fern stems and maidenhair fern stems on a background of bear grass leaves; Designs include solid band with pendant checkerboard pattern on base, band of contiguous open crosses on lower sides, and band of five concentric, serrated diamonds around upper sides; Warp rods are clipped at rim. | |
