| Description | Deep round basket with flat base and vertical sides; Basket is woven entirely in open twined technique over crossed warps except for final few rows along rim, which are woven in plain twining; Primary warp and weft fibers are rye grass stems; Designs are woven of worst commercial wool yarn in a false embroidery technique and consist of 4 rows of spaced rectangles in black, gray-blue, orange and red and framed between upper and lowered framing line, all encircling upper half of basket and visible on exterior only; Narrow braided bale handle was originally attached to two points on rim opposite each other. | |
