Description | Leaf-shaped hand fan woven in simple plaiting technique using both undyed pandanus strips and undyed coconut frond ribs as warp and weft; In some areas, the wefts are wrapped around an adjacent warp and then return to their original position and function, forming openwork areas in the weaving, serving both a decorative and structural function; Warp and weft fibers are braided together at lower center of fan and were probably originally fitted around a wooded handle (now missing). | |
