Description Rectangular Storm Pattern rug woven entirely in plain, weft-faced tapestry technique with interlocking joins; Pattern begins in center with column of stacked gold colored bars and diamonds on white background, flanked along both sides by column of stacked black bars and diamonds, the latter continuing in terraced segments extending to each corner of the rug, where the final segment is bisected by a gold-colored vertical bar; Remaining spaces on design field are filled with geometric elements, including feather like motif and a waterbug motif, in colors of black, white, and gold; Background of design field is dark gray; Design is framed along all four edges by a double border, the inner one being white and the outer one being black; Both borders are straight edged along ends of rug and form a reciprocating pattern of terraced triangles along both sides; Rug does not have selvage cords; End cords are white; Weft yarns of this rug are extremely coarsely spun, making the rug very thick.
