| Description | Tule boat constructed in 2019 for display at Aquatic Park, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, for Alcatraz Canoe Journey, an Indigenous Peoples' Day commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the occupation of Alcatraz Island by Indians of All Tribes. The boat was subsequently displayed on Alcatraz Island National Park, Golden Gate National Recreation Area from January 2020 to January 31, 2026, when the boatwas donated to the California Academy of Sciences. The boat's construction details were based on an 1806 painting of a tule boat on San Francisco Bay, with the people in it likely Ohlone or Bay Miwok. | |
