Basketry form known as a wall pocket, a Victorian era made-for-sale tourist item; Flat rectangular back panel is woven in 2-strand twining in open spaced technique; Rims are all wrapped in coil stitch; Supplementary warps added near base of panel flare outward to form oval-shaped pocket, also woven in 2-strand twining in open spaced technique; Warps are crossed near rim. |
