| Description | Deep round basket with flat base and nearly vertical sides; Basket is woven in close-spaced coiled technique over-rod foundation of peeled willow shoots; Primary weft fiber is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven in black devil's claw and consists of network of open terraced diamonds, enclosing areas that are woven in a checkerboard pattern; This basket could be either Paiute or Havasupai, but is more likely Paiute on the basis of the split upper rod in each coil, typically a Paiute trait. | |
