Description |
Oval basket with flat base and rounded sides that taper in at rim; Coiled on 3-rod foundation; Designs in dyed bulrush include 4 motifs of stacked terraced diamonds (1 small, 1 large) beginning on base and extending up to rim; Design identified as a snake design by noted Pomo basketweaver, Mabel Mckay; Red woodpecker feathers and black quail topknot feathers decorate upper sides. [In 1977 Pomo basketweaver Mable McKay identified this design as the ?snake? design, inspired by a dream. She also attributed this basket to the Mission Lakeport area, and thought it was probably woven by the same person who wove CAS 0370-0819.] |
