| Description | Small round wheel-thrown jar with flat-bottomed, short pedestal base, flaring lower sides; Midlevel height shoulder and second high shoulder, and wide mouth with everted rim; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and probably coated with a buff-colored slip; Designs are painted in brown and consist of two decorative bands, one encircling each shoulder area; Lower band is divided into 6 panels with alternating geometric and bird motifs; Upper band is divided into 3 panels with the end of each panel anchored by a right triangle with tick marks along the diagonal side of the triangle and along the bottom edge of the entire panel; Each panel contains a pair of star motifs; Lip of jar is also painted brown; Overall design is very similar to CAS 0389-0040. | |
