Description | Oil lamp made in two pieces in a mold and then joined together; Body of lamp is triangular in shape with flat base, flaring lower sides, and a somewhat concave, enclosed top with a large mouth for filling lamp with fuel and a smaller opening near the edge for holding the wick; A stocky handle that extends above the rim is attached to edge of lamp, just behind the mouth; Designs on top of lamp may have been part of the mold and include series of concentric grooves around mouth, rope-like pattern around edges of lamp, and series of small raised bumps along front of lamp near wick hole; Overall color is terra cotta. | |
