This species has elegant fragrant flowers with four cream-colored petals that are narrow and appressed to the ovary at the base, but flaring and expanded distally. This plant flowers in late winter and early spring. The leaves are sharply toothed to subentire and inserted alternately up the stem.

DISTRIBUTION: Found in coastal dunes, headlands and cliffs below 300 meters from the Central Coast (Point Reyes) to the North Coast Ranges of California.
