Lanszwert's Wild Pea Lathyrus lanszwertii var lanszwertii (Fabaceae)
The pea family, one of the largest families of flowering plants, is also economically important and widespread in many plant communities around the world. This wild pea is a weak stemmed perennial that produces few flowers in a short raceme. The compound leaves have 4–10 narrow leaflets and a central axis terminates in a coiled tendril that is used to climb and cling to adjacent plant.
DISTRIBUTION: Found on open slopes from 1200–2000m; northernmost counties and in parts of California's Great Basin, north to Washington, Idaho and Utah.
