Description
Monoraphid frustules, elliptical in outline, without produced ends. The raphe-bearing valve has a hyaline ring/area near the margin. Valves slightly or markedly flexed about the apical axis.
Cells single, growing adnate on substrates, usually as an epiphyte, in both flowing and still waters.
