Eucocconeis Cleve


Frustules monoraphid, lanceolate to nearly elliptical in outline, flexed about the transapical axis and twisted slightly about the apical axis. Raphe and axial area of rapheless valve sigmoid.

A small genus, the species of which have been classically been included in the genus Achnanthes. Eucocconeis differs from Achnanthes in having valves that are twisted about the apical axis and the raphe and axial area on the rapheless valve being sigmoid.
