Gomphoneis Cleve

Description

Frustules biraphid, asymmetrical to the transapical axis, symmetrical to the apical axis, cuneate in girdle view, septa and pseudosepta present. Species with one of two types of morphologies: Stigmata present, longitudinal lines on both sides of the axial area and striae composed of doubly-punctate striae OR striae costa-like, 0-4 (or more) stigmoids around the central area and longitudinal lines lacking.
