Although no type is formally designated, Paddock 1988 wrote "Manguinea fusiformis gen. and comb. nov." and "M. rigida comb. nov.", and it is possible to interpret this typographical differenciation as indication of type. Failure to accept the genus as typified in Paddock 1988 would mean that the name is invalid. Greuter et al. 1993, p. 669 (ref. 001911) designated "Manginea fusiformis" as the type of the genus. |
