Diagnosis
This species is similar to Coniopteryx madagascariensis, except that males have no projection between the antennal bases. Diagnosis based on male genitalia is difficult given the variation in genitalia displayed by C. madagascariensis. Females cannot be separated.

Geographical Distribution
This species is found throughout Madagascar, but seems to be more common in the southern and western parts of the country.
Temporal Distribution
Adults will be present during any month of the year.
