PANORPIDAE (Scorpion-flies)

The three genera of Panorpidae are separated by Panorpa having forewing vein 1A reach the hind margin of the wing at or beyond the origin of the radial sector. Both Neopanorpa and Leptopanorpa have 1A reaching the hind margin before the origin of the radial sector. Leptopanorpa is distinct from Neopanorpa in having an abdomen which extends beyond the wing apex when the wings are folded over the body.
