Common House Snake, Lamprophis fuliginosus

Family Colubridae. Our two specimens were collected in a cultivated area at Byumba indicating it is not a forest species; commonly feeds on small mammals, which it subdues by constriction. Nocturnal.

Size: to 100 cm. TL.

Habitat: an open savanna or bush country species, probably common around the margins of BINP in agricultural areas..

Range: Africa south of the Sahara, west and north to Morocco and Mauritania
