Sokoke scops-owl, Otis ireneae

Associated with the Cynometra area of the Arabuko-Sokoke, this tiny owl is known elsewhere only in small numbers from the foothills of the East Usambara Mts of Tanzania. One of the rarest birds in East Africa, it is found in three color phases; light grey (as above) grey-brown and bright rufous.
