Holotype: FMNH [ex CM 2751] (21 mm). Paratypes and possibly holotype: CAS 33722 [ex IU 13282] (1), FMNH 54177 [ex CM 2751] (2, missing). Type catalog: Henn 1928:96 [ref. 12305], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:46 [ref. 12367]. Originally 4 types; holotype established in caption to Pl. 62 (fig. 2) if identifiable. •Valid as Apistogramma maciliensis (Haseman 1911) -- (Römer & Warzel 1998:52 [ref. 23583], Römer et al. 2004:32 [ref. 34102]). •Synonym of Apistogramma trifasciata (Eigenmann & Kennedy 1903) -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:616 [ref. 27061], Staeck 2003:111, 112 [ref. 27488], Staeck & Schindler 2008:205 [ref. 29916], Mirande & Koerber 2015:57 [ref. 35117], Koerber et al. 2017:78 [ref. 35267], Hablützel & Huanto 2020:50 [ref. 37939]).
