H.] 1896:449, Pl. 31 [United States Commission of Fish and Fisheries, Report of the Commissioner v. 19 (for 1893) (art. 6); ref. 1628] Unimak Pass, Aleutian Islands, Alaska, U.S.A., 53°56'00"N, 165°40'00"W, *Albatross* station 2844, depth 54 fathoms. Lectotype: USNM 53806. Paralectotypes: CAS-SU 774 (1), 3093 (1); USNM 48614 (1), 59376 (1). Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 313, p. 3296 in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] and that specimen is identifiable as USNM 53806, a specimen not mentioned by number in the original description (presumably since it was collected before 1890 and not treated in this work); it is from station 2844 and not sta. 3223 (C.W. Mecklenburg, pers. comm., Nov. 1998). An additional paralectotype from sta. 2844 [now SU 774] was recently located (see Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2003:12 [ref. 27295]). •Valid as Eumicrotremus muticus (Gilbert 1896) -- (Oku et al. 2017:55 [ref. 35060]). •Synonym of Eumicrotremus gyrinops (Garman 1892) -- (Stevenson et al. 2017:429 [ref. 35471]). •Valid as Lethotremus muticus Gilbert 1896 -- (Lindberg & Legeza 1955:439 [ref. 2785], Ueno 1970:127 [ref. 26199], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:31 [ref. 25650], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:559 [ref. 25968], Parin et al. 2002:S109 [ref. 28300], Mecklenburg & Sheiko 2003:11 [ref. 27295], Nelson et al. 2004:124 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:101 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:127 [ref. 32708], Parin et al. 2014:313 [ref. 33547], Voskoboinikova 2019:533 [ref. 37242]).
