Neotype designated in Ginsburg 1939:55 [ref. 12362]. •Valid as Microgobius emblematicus (Jordan & Gilbert 1882) -- (Birdsong 1981:293 [ref. 5425], Allen & Robertson 1994:268 [ref. 22193], Hoese in Fischer et al. 1995:1135 [ref. 22829], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:149 [ref. 24555], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:451 [ref. 24550], Nelson et al. 2004:172 [ref. 27807], Van Tassell 2011:168 [ref. 31732], Tornabene et al. 2012:41 [ref. 32138], Page et al. 2013:178 [ref. 32708], Love et al. 2021:206 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Microgobius emblematicus (Jordan & Gilbert 1882). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to northern Peru, including mouth of Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: brackish, marine.
