Type catalog: Moore & Boardman 1991:17 [ref. 16741]. •Valid as Eustomias brevibarbatus Parr 1927 -- (Gomon & Gibbs 1985:5 [ref. 5268], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:497 [ref. 23897], Harold 2003:911 [ref. 27001], Menezes et al. in Menezes et al. 2003:47 [ref. 27192], Costa & Mincarone 2010:353 [ref. 37483], Sutton et al. 2020:102 [ref. 37832], Eduardo et al. 2022:6 [ref. 39574], Villarins et al. 2022:49 [ref. 39442], Page et al. 2023:87 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Eustomias brevibarbatus Parr 1927. Stomiidae: Melanostomiinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic, from 35°N to 25°S, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
