Holotype (unique): SAM (lost). •Probably synonym of Bathypterois phenax Parr 1928, but original description inconclusive, no subsequent material available from off South Africa -- (Sulak 1977:90 [ref. 4299]). •Questionably a synonym of Bathypterois phenax Parr 1928 -- (Sulak in Whitehead et al. 1984:418 [ref. 13675], Sulak 1986:263 [ref. 5720], Sulak 1990:356 [ref. 15106], Franco et al. 2009:809 [ref. 32442]). Current status: Uncertain as Bathypterois phenax Parr 1928. Ipnopidae. Habitat: marine.
