Paratypes: BPBM 14314 [ex SIO 72-9] (1); CAS 15992-93 [ex SIO] (1, 2); LACM 33364-1 (1), 33365-1 (1) [ex SIO]; SIO 63-405 to 406 (1, 1), 70-102 (1), 71-309 (3), 72-373 (6); USNM 208465 [ex SIO 71-307] (2). •Valid as Lampanyctus acanthurus Wisner 1974 -- (Paxton 1979:14 [ref. 6440], Fujii in Masuda et al. 1984:70 [ref. 6441], Shinohara et al. 1996:166 [ref. 26605], Nakabo 2000:390 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:390 [ref. 26001], Love et al. 2005:45 [ref. 37547], Mundy 2005:224 [ref. 28379], Parin et al. 2014:157 [ref. 33547], Balushkin & Prirodina 2020:46 [ref. 37828], Page et al. 2023:96 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Lampanyctus acanthurus Wisner 1974. Myctophidae: Lampanyctinae. Distribution: North Pacific: Japan north to Kuril Islands; northern-central Pacific; southern California (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of central Baja California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
