Possibly a misspelling of Gadus merluccius Linnaeus 1758 but spelled the same in index (p. X) and on p. 84 with no reference to an earlier description; treated as an available name. •Synonym of Merluccius merluccius (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Svetovidov 1973:300 [ref. 7169], Inada in Cohen et al. 1990:339 [ref. 18936], Lloris et al. 2003:32 [ref. 27698] as Hidronus marlucius, Lloris et al. 2016:2011 [ref. 34587]).
