More specific data on the type locality - A waterhole on a rubber plantation north of Mount Barclay, about 12 miles (~19 km) from Monrovia in Liberia (app. 6°22'10"N, 10°40'30"W) - are given by Dinesen [ref. 34430]. •Valid as Aphyosemion monroviae (Roloff & Ladiges 1972) -- (Wildekamp et al. 1986:226 [ref. 6198], Paugy et al. 1990:341 [ref. 26477], Romand in Lévêque et al. 1992:597 [ref. 21590]). •Valid as Fundulopanchax monroviae (Roloff & Ladiges 1972) -- (Wildekamp 1996:190 [ref. 23649]). •Valid as Callopanchax monroviae (Roloff & Ladiges 1972) -- (Lazara 2001:65 [ref. 25711], Sonnenberg & Busch 2010:3 [ref. 30789], Costa 2015:141 [ref. 35411]).
