multifasciata, Adinia Girard [C. F.] 1859:118 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 11; ref. 27410] Galveston, St. Joseph's Island and Indianola, Texas, U.S.A. Syntypes: ANSP 7291-92 (2). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:97 [ref. 13621]. At one time, secondarily preoccupied in Fundulus by Hydrargyra multifasciata Lesueur 1817 and replaced by Fundulus xenicus Jordan & Gilbert 1882. The name Adinia xenica is in current use by most authors and should be retained (see Art. 59.3), with Adinia multifasciata in synonymy. Hydrargyra multifasciatus Lesueur 1817 is a syonym in the genus Fundulus. •Valid as Adinia multifasciata Girard 1859 -- (Parenti 1981:498 [ref. 7066]). •Synonym of Adinia xenica (Jordan & Gilbert 1882) -- (Wildekamp 1993:16 [ref. 26378], Lazara 2001:3 [ref. 25711]). •Synonym of Fundulus xenicus Jordan & Gilbert 1882. 2°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Fundulus xenicus Jordan & Gilbert 1882. Fundulidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
