brevis, Oxyporhamphus Seale [A.] 1910:495, Pl. 2 [The Philippine Journal of Science Section A v. 4 (no. 6) (for 1909); ref. 4000] Paawacan, Palawan Island, Philippines. Holotype: BSMP 5301 (apparently destroyed). Paratypes: (13) BSMP (apparently destroyed). •Valid as Arrhamphus brevis (Seale 1910) -- (Mohsin & Ambak 1996:176 [ref. 27969]). •Valid as Melapedalion breve (Seale 1910) -- (Parin et al. 1980:98 [ref. 6895], Collette 1999:2195 [ref. 24785], Collette in Randall & Lim 2000:599 [ref. 25122], Collette 2004:12 [ref. 27583], Kottelat 2013:291 [ref. 32989], Wibowo et al. 2022:108 [ref. 39233]). Current status: Valid as Melapedalion breve (Seale 1910). Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Western Pacific: Bangka Belitung Islands (Indonesia) and Philippines. Habitat: marine.
