Neotype: HUJ 20546. Paratypes: HUJ 5131 (1, lost), 5368b (1, lost). Type catalog: Golani 2006:23 [ref. 28840] with original holotype lost. Second author's name wrongly as "Haned." Neotype designated by Golani et al. 2019:37 [ref. 36580]. •Synonym of Photoblepharon palpebratum (Boddaert 1781), but a valid subspecies -- (Dor 1984:70 [ref. 29757], Fricke 1999:125 [ref. 24106]). •Synonym of Photoblepharon palpebratus (Boddaert 1781), but a valid subspecies -- (McCosker 1986:413 [ref. 6294]). •Valid as Photoblepharon steinitzi Abe & Haneda 1973 -- (McCosker & Rosenblatt 1987:161 [ref. 6707], Randall & Anderson 1993: 9 [ref. 21646], Goren & Dor 1994:17 [ref. 25356], Randall 1995:93 [ref. 22896], Kotlyar 1996:216 [ref. 23292], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S100 [ref. 27377], Randall 2005:85 [ref. 28239], Fricke et al. 2009:32 [ref. 30213], Golani & Fricke 2018:45 [ref. 36273], Golani et al. 2019:36 [ref. 36580], McCosker 2022:384 [ref. 39686]). Current status: Valid as Photoblepharon steinitzi Abe & Haneda 1973. Anomalopidae. Distribution: Red Sea; western Indian Ocean: Oman, Comoros to western Mascarenes (La RĂ©union) and Maldives. Habitat: marine.
